Lectin Protein

Lectins are a type of protein that occur in varying amounts in different foods. Gluten is an example of perhaps the most well-known lectin.

Just because lectins are proteins and some people seem to benefit from reducing lectins does NOT mean proteins are bad.

In fact, your body uses protein for all sorts of great things!

Your body breaks down protein into amino acids, which it then uses for various functions, including that it can use them to build proteins, which it can use for healing your body, or building muscle!

Body builders and gym fanatics often use protein powder to supplement their diet and get more protein.

Think of it, your gut is made of protein.

The amount of lectin proteins that are in foods varies, and some have higher amounts than others.

Some foods are considered low lectin foods or lectin-free.

Foods like peas and beans are considered high lectin foods.

No matter what, you definitely will not want to avoid protein, even if you want to cut down on lectins!
